
The FBI is investigating the hacker who allegedly breached Uber’s security Uber blog post. The same group named Lapsus$ was mentioned in the post as possibly responsible for leaking Rockstar’s GTA 6 development footage. However, Uber has not independently verified this and cited external sources Report.
“We are in close coordination with the FBI and the US Department of Justice on this matter and will continue to support their efforts,” Uber wrote. Lapsus$ was also allegedly behind the data breaches of Microsoft, Samsung, Nvidia and other companies in 2022.
According to Uber, Lapsus$ gained access to Uber contractor accounts by purchasing compromised passwords on the dark web. Lapsus$ then repeatedly attempts to login and trigger two-factor authentication until the contractor approves such a request.
Rockstar has confirmed that the leaked GTA 6 footage is legitimate and released an official statement. “We recently suffered a network intrusion,” Rockstar said. “At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services or any long-term impact on the ongoing development of our projects.”
