A popular new Stardew Valley mod adds an expansive new roguelike mode to the Life game. Titled Stardew Valley Roguelike Mod, this mod introduces stronger combat elements to the valley, or more specifically, newly expanded mines and monstrous new enemies that await you beneath the earth.

Stardew Valley Mod is a comprehensive package that adds custom floor layouts, difficulty scaling, and custom rewards, along with 10 massive bosses and floor “unique” challenges. The original Stardew Valley Mine is where you squish some slimes around and dig up valuable treasures, but the emphasis is on the treasure. Unlike the upcoming haunted chocolatier, his fight with giant bees and other beasts is more of a hindrance than a feature.

A few caveats come with the Stardew Valley Roguelike mod, though the creator, Tyler and Habu, recommends against using other modes. So, no Stardew Valley stretch, dating mode or any naughty mode in the valley unless you want to crush mine.

The mod is still under construction with Tyler and Haboo working on additional features and suggestions from players to make it better. A popular suggestion is to let players save loadouts so they don’t have to restart the character creation process every time they start a new run.

Expect many more changes in the coming days, as the mod is still early in its life. It was launched on September 11, and since then, 40,000 people have tested it and 5,000 people have downloaded it. That’s an impressive number in general, but even more so after a week of life.
