This is definitely and unexpected announcement from YouTuber Videogamedunkey.
In a very surprising announcement, YouTuber Videogamedunkey is entering video game publishing with a new studio called Bigmode. Videogamedonkey is big on both meme videos and video game articles, so the focus on publishing is definitely huge.
Within two hours of the announcement video going live, it had already amassed 457,000 views and counting.
You can watch that exact video below with a wholehearted promise that it’s not all bullshit.
Bigmode’s website gives a nice rundown of what the publisher is all about:
Bigmode is an indie publication with purpose and passion, founded in 2022 by Videogamedunkey (aka Jason) and his wife Leah.
Helpful games made with content, quality, creativity, and fun in mind are extremely important to us! The indie game world can feel crowded or oversaturated, so our goal is to give great games a powerful way to stand out.
We love and care deeply about games, as well as artists and creatives in general. BigMod is our way of nurturing and supporting those who put the best effort and love into their projects that they can—to give them the spotlight they deserve and to see more of what we love in gaming.
The BigMod site gives more information and sets some clear lines on what will be accepted. Considering the current debate in the industry, the section on what new publishers are looking for states “Please note: We are not accepting any games that use NFTs, crypto or blockchain.”
Today was full of another huge YouTube-related announcement. Soon, YouTube will allow content creators to monetize videos with licensed music. In that same vein, Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai started his own YouTube channel late last month.
